We've created a high-quality thumbnail for Flask and Scratch for the Roblox game
Roblox is a platform with incredibly high competition among creators. To make a video stand out, the thumbnail must be as bright, dynamic, and clear as possible, even for a younger audience. In this Zarik Design case study, we’ll show how we created the project for popular creators — Scratch and Flask.
Why Does This Thumbnail Get Clicks?
The "Versus" (VS) format is one of the most consistent clickability triggers on YouTube.
- Vibrant Palette: Utilizing saturated blue, green, and orange tones.
- Emotions: The characters' faces express extreme surprise and fear, immediately engaging the viewer's empathy.
- Value Items: The glowing items held by the characters (the pumpkin and the gift) create intrigue regarding the video's plot.
Step 1: Environment & Scene Filling
We started by creating a clean, sunny background typical of the Roblox style. To prevent the frame from looking empty, we added thematic game elements and "pets" in the background to increase the level of detail.
Step 2: Character Posing
The main characters — Scratch and Flask — were imported into a 3D editor.
- We crafted the poses so the characters face each other, establishing a sense of conflict.
- Special attention was paid to the eyes and mouths to convey exaggerated emotions.
- Glowing objects with a soft "Glow" effect were added to focus attention on the center of the composition.
Step 3: The "VS" Composition
To split the frame, we used a classic white divider line and a massive "VS" logo. The audience instantly recognizes this as a competition or battle, which significantly boosts CTR (Click-Through Rate).
Step 4: Final Polishing
During the post-production stage in Photoshop, we:
- Increased overall saturation and contrast.
- Added rim lighting to the characters to separate them from the background.
- Applied particle effects and subtle vignetting.
The Result
A vibrant, professional thumbnail that perfectly fits the Roblox community trends of 2026.
